Hey Spotlight, I'm Over Here!
I don't think the kids from the Jersey Shore could do a more deserving fist pump. After all the drama that is Tiger Woods began play at the Masters all the talk was "could he make the cut?" or "could he win?" That pretty much seemed to be a reality after the 3rd round when El Tigre was in striking distance of yet another green jacket. You knew he was going to dawn the signature red shirt/black pants on Sunday as he was out looking for blood, or the cute chick at the concession stand. After the 3rd round, I honestly thought that he was going to win. I thought this is the position he wants to be in. He was "close", not leading, but "close". Apparently, Phil Mickelson saw tiger in the rear view mirror and slammed his foot on the gas. Lefty had himself one hell of a tournament. He shot -16 under for the tournament which is the best score for a Masters champ since 2001 when some dude named Woods won it. He almost set another record by putting down 3 eagles, however the 4th was just a tad high and missed by a few inches. Nevertheless, Mickelson slid the green jacket on for the 3rd time and is 1 behind Tiger Woods and Arnold Palmer who have won it 4 times. Jack Nicklaus is the all time Masters winner with 6. I'm happy with the result. Lefty played well and did what he needed to do to win. I hope this is the beginning of a rivalry that I believe golf desperately needs. Tiger needs a "lex luther" or in some people's mind he needs a "superman". Someone to do battle with. Every great sport has a rivalry and golf should be no exception. How do you see it? Does golf need a rivalry? Are you happy Lefty won the Masters? Were you rooting for Tiger? Overall thoughts on the Masters? Opinions are just thoughts until you put them into words.
Much Luck,
Joe
