Well, the cat is out of the bag so to speak. Former Oakland A's and St. Louis Cardinal 1st baseman Mark McGwire admitted yesterday to using steroids. DUH! Make, speaking with the associated press, said that he used it "on and off" for about a decade including the year he broke the single season HR record. He also said that he wanted to tell the truth during his congressional hearing on steroids, but he instead, on the advice of his attorney, decided to say "i'm not hear to talk about the past". It is speculated that McGwire, who recently accepted a job with the cardinals as their hitting coach, came out now because when spring training arrives he would be hounded by the media and did not want to cause a distraction towards the team. Riiiiiight......I'm sure the Hall of Fame votes, or lack there, of had nothing to do with it. He had been receiveing about 23% of the vote for the Hall of Fame. Look, I'm happy for him to come out and admit that he took steroids. It was probably a huge lift off of his roided shoulders and he probably feels a lot better, but the facts are the facts. He Cheated! If you used a substance to enhance your natural ability then you cheated and you should not be considered for the Hall. What do you think? Does his newly found clean slate make you rethink his Hall of Fame credentials or once a cheater always a cheater mentality stick with you. Let me hear it!
Much Luck,
Joe
