University of Florida LB Brandon Spikes was caught on camera applying an eye gouge to University of Georgia RB Washaun Ealey during a tackle. Florida head coach Urban Meyer said that Spikes would be suspended for the first half of their next game vs. 2-8 Vanderbilt. On ESPN.com, Chris Low wrote that Ealey himself was surprised that the play was getting so much attention and didn't feel like Spikes should be suspended. A Freakin' Eye Gouge! Wow. Well, my feeling is that suspending Spikes for the half is equal to spraying him with a bottle of water and telling him "No!" "Bad Spikes"! What do you think? We'll try the "3 bears" poll. Suspension too much? Too little? Just right? Let me hear it!
If you missed it, check out the play in question. I give you exhibit A:
Much Luck,
Joe
