New England Patriots Pro Bowl defensive end Richard Seymour was traded to the Oakland Raiders on Sunday for a 2011 first round draft pick. Today will mark the 2nd straight day that he has not reported to the Raiders since the deal. Well, would you???? I always enjoy living the life, going to pro bowls, winning super bowls, etc. for one of the best run organizations in the NFL and then being dealt to a team that would be better run by the Crypt Keeper (Oh wait, Al Davis already runs them). Look, long story short I'm not surprised and nor should the Raiders. Just trade for guys who don't want to be there, baby!
Much Luck,
Joe
I think I'm right. Who in the world would want to go to Oakland? I mean, Oakland get's a tiny bit a credibility when Jerry Rice went there, but he sucked there. No players for you!!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, following the misadventures of the Raiders has been going for quite a while now and I think we all know the only thing that might get them back on course to a Commitment to Excellence...and that won't be pleasant for Al Davis.

Seymore reportedly won't report to Oakland because the Raiders can't promise him he won't be franchised next year. Seymore knows the game. They gave up a first round pick in 2011 (which will probably be a Top 5 pick) for him and now he doesn't want to be franchised in 2010. Come kid, thats not the way the game works.
ReplyDeleteThe Raiders do get a decent grade for trying to acquire a DE that is vastly superior to anyone else on their roster. Then again, it wouldn't surprise me if the Patriots made the call to them and pushed Seymour down their throats until they said "ok, we'll take him!"
