Ok Lions's Fans. It's official. Matthew Stafford will be your starting quarterback in the regular season opener vs. the Saints. He was able to beat out veteran Dante Culpepper. Stafford was 30 for 55 with 1 touchdown and 4 interceptions. Although he has a cannon for a arm and good versatility, he still looks like he needs a ID to see a rated R movie. Do you think Matthew is the right choice to start the season or do you feel Dante, being the veteran he is, deserved to open the season? Just for the record, Dante was 22 for 34 with 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions. Thoughts?
Up until Dante gouged his foot on some loose carpeting at his home (which needed stitched to colse the wound), I'd like to thing he would have started. Go Stafford. Show us what a rookie QB looks like. Win at least one game and you've drastically improved that football team. You will be worth every penny.
ReplyDeleteOnly question I would have is that if you are trying to turn around a franchise like the Lions and bring the fans back, would it better to start Dante instead and groom Stafford to be the quarterback of the future. It worked for Tom Brady and Steve McNair. Of course you do have your exceptions like Peyton Manning, Matt Ryan and Eli Manning.
